As you we have already informed our visitors that "Prasar Bharati is conducting 44th e-auction for MPEG-2 TV slots". Prasar Bharati held this e-auction on 24th February 2020 for 54 TV channels.

Why only 54 TV channels?

DD Freedish currently offering 88 TV channels in MPEG-2 slots, (you can check here) where 34 TV channels already available from Doordarshan.

DD Freedish MPEG-2 slots details are -

Doordarshan's national and regional TV channels - 34
Available free TV channels slot for Private TV channels - 54
Total available TV channels = 88

You can check the total MPEG-2 slots from here.

If DD Freedish moves some Doordarshan TV channels or Vande Gujarat TV channels or MHRD TV channels to MPEG-4 slot, then MPEG-2 slot capacity may be increase for private TV channels.

Recently Prasar Bharati held 43rd e-auction for MPEG-4 TV channels. Total four new TV channels added in Doordarshan Free dish including 9x Jalwa, Sangeet Bangla, Samay TV, and JK 24X7 News.
